As the month of March draws near, it's time to start planning some engaging and creative St. Patrick's Day activities! We start talking about the fun holiday in March by reading a St. Patrick's Day story. The books below are two of my favorites! It's helpful to read a story in Kindergarten to familiarize students with the concepts of a holiday that they might not know much about.
We also add the St. Patrick's Day Vocabulary Cards to out pocket chart. Students color the coordinating black and white vocabulary cards and we staple them into a book that they add to their book boxes.
St. Patrick's Day sight word memory is a game that is added to either our free choice shelf or to a center. You can print off the cards on card stock and then laminate them so they last longer!
I love working on creative writing for St. Patrick's Day! It's such a fun holiday for Kindergarten, and they always come up with the cutest ideas! We make four different class lists to answer the following four questions.
- Where will the leprechaun hide his gold?
- Why are you lucky?
- What would you do if you found a pot of gold?
- What would you like to find hidden at the end of the rainbow?
We work on one per day, or sometimes one every other day, depending on how much time we have to work on writing. You can find the four writing pages in my St. Patrick's Day Language Arts Bundle.
