Valentine's Day Read Alouds


Are you looking for some February ideas for your classroom? I always plan my weekly theme lessons around the read alouds we will sharing during our whole group carpet time. The first week in February, we are going to start with a comical read aloud to get students excited about the upcoming holiday of Valentine's Day.

One of the favorites in my classroom is There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Rose by Lucille Colando. Colando's series of books is always a favorite for my classroom for two reasons! First, the silliness of the stories bring out the giggles in my Kinders and keep them engaged. Second, I love using the stories to work on sequencing of events.
