Christmas Festivities

I have always loved when December rolls around in Kindergarten. The Kinders are bouncing with excitement for the upcoming holiday and all of Santa's deliveries. :) There is an assortmentt of holiday decorations to make for the classroom, letters to Santa to write, holiday presents to make for parents and more.

While all of this fun and excitement can create a little chaos and craziness as well, it's still one of my favorite times of year in Kindergarten. The smiles on the students faces when they receive their gifts from me are priceless. Words of "This is the best day ever!" and "I love you!",  melt my heart!

Even better is the sweet excitement they have when I unwrap a gift from them. It is so heartwarming when all of the students huddle around just to see what might be in the gift another student has brought for me. They spoil me! I mean these kiddos bring the joy to the season!

With all of that said, the crazy hustle and bustle of the holidays is, I suppose, why I am sitting here on December 28 writing this post instead of on December 1. ;) Nevertheless, I hope that the following FREE printables from my TpT store can help you next year when December rolls around.

My students love to color the festive pictures (clip art from The Whimsy Clips). I just love their adorable clip art! It's perfect for Kindergarten. My students outline with their markers and color the pictures with crayons and their favorite part is adding some butter (yellow highlight) to those popcorn words (sight words) that they find in the sentences.

We call our sight words popcorn words because these words are popping up all over the place when we read! They are also called popcorn words because they need to pop right out their mouths when they see them - meaning these are words they cannot sound out.

The students get the biggest kick out of buttering up popcorn words in Kindergarten. This idea came from a fellow Kindergarten teacher of mine. In teaching, the best ideas are borrowed right?!?  For that reason, I hope that you can benefit from some borrowed ideas below! Click on the link and it will take you directly to my TpT store where you can find these Christmas coloring pages.
Wishing you much joy and happiness in the New Year!
